I’ve been summing up books and movies on Twitter this way because I clearly have too much time on my hands.

Hello, friends!

I want to let you know about two great comedy shows I host in NYC.

“Lasers” is a weekly stand-up show that started way back in 2010 and is returning to UCB East!

“Local Empire” is a new monthly sketch show with some very funny folks. The next one is on April 9th at Public Assembly at 8 PM.

Come to either and I promise you’ll have fun. If I don’t do any book-related jokes, you can meet me after and I’ll gladly make fun of some books with you.

Also, check back tomorrow morning for another “Love, Sex, Death, and Books” podcast.

Thanks for reading this. Thanks for supporting live comedy!

Sincerely,

Dan

Today’s episode is a live show from Housing Works Bookstore Cafe featuring Lev Grossman (author of The Magicians), Haley Tanner (Vaclav and Lena), Harrison Greenbaum (Comedy Central’s Comics to Watch), and Adam Conover (Best Week Ever). We all got together to talk about the authors’ books. One novel features two childhood friends discovering the joy of live performance and illusion, the other features a group of teenagers from Brooklyn discovering a secret magical world where they learn actual sorcery! Which is nerdier? Find out!

super amused that in holland the title of the book translates to, “anne frank is alive and lives in the attic.”  i mean, why beat around the bush i guess.

A real Better Book Title from Holland! Thanks to gogogogol for posting it.
