We’ve talked a lot about libraries and librarians here. Honestly, I wish I were writing this article from a library right now. Sure, the article would take me 6 hours to finish because I’d be wandering the stacks, but that’s the joy of free books. They’re a constant distraction, but, somehow a healthy one?
I don’t know. I’m not a doctor. I’m also not a librarian, so when a woman with the handle @grumpwitch shared her thoughts on what people don’t know about our beloved book sanctuaries, I found it eye-opening. So too did the rest of Twitter. The thoughts and facts about libraries went viral! How many times will I be able to write that sentence?
Good for her for bringing light to the issues and joys of managing a place that lends reading material out for free. Hopefully, we’ll be talking about libraries for the next thousand years.
Here is the viral Twitter thread featuring everything one woman learned from working in libraries:

If you want to know more… she has her own book out now!
My publisher would never forgive me if I didn't take this opportunity to say that I have a book coming out! It is essentially a long-form version of this thread but with more love, more jokes and at least 80% more stories about super-readers. https://t.co/XbCBAfcEel
